Ms. Mayer was born in Los Angeles County in 1972. She received an undergraduate
degree in Political Science from American University in 1993 and a Master’s Degree
from Johns Hopkins University in 1995. She has since enjoyed a career that has included
legislative and analytical positions with the U.S. Senate, the Department of Justice
and the Department of Homeland Security.
Evrémonde was a project years in the making. After developing the idea for a sequel
to A Tale of Two Cities, Ms. Mayer spent significant time abroad in Austria, Germany
and the United Kingdom conducting Napoleonic- era historical and military research.
Most recently she resided in Vienna, Austria, but she now lives in Washington DC
with her husband. She is a member of the
Dickens Fellowship, the Historical
Novel Society, and the Napoleonic Alliance.
